These are the specimens of contemporary water crafts from the East and the West, built in traditional outlooks. The houseboats from the backwaters of Kerala in India, used mainly for the tourist purposes, mechanized fishing boats from the coastal belts of the Arabian Sea are the currently available models of the boat designing in the East. Simultaneously we can see the Western counterparts of the sailing crafts and other varieties of boats in the ports of the Arabian Sea in the Western Coasts of India.
The coastal scenes in South India (Kerala) during the summer season are painted with the coconut palms bordering the lakes in confluence with the Arabian Sea;the evening lights make blushes on the frills of palm-leaves and the plants laid out wild in the untouchable corners of the shore, away from the catch of human beings. The sky which is about to fade by the setting sun was to welcome the new moon as the sign of the night and there was a colorful kite flying in the sky as if to kiss the moon reminding a summer night’s dream…!
In the noon the lake found calm in the gentle air that blew out of the leaves in a peaceful pace and the surface of water remained pleasing to the reflections from the banks…! A leisure boat was at rest near the tree that kept itself blissful in the pleasing wind under the sunshine of the noontime….!The banks awaited the visitors with colorful vessels to move around…!
In the lakes eastwards to the Arabian Sea , the boats travailing and fishing find their postures on the move ,the rest and the rush after fishing in the noon, afternoon and in the evening….,
The contrasting red and blue made the fishing vessels into a fluorescent sea-bird,A bird that shoots out of the waves with catch and colorful wings…, The ethnic cruises pleated in bamboo-panels and Palm-leaves found their trails across the deep blues bordered around with dense green backgrounds of the hot-noon vegetation in the lakeside…,The ripples shone bright and the banks rest under the dark shades…,The backwaters frilled in coconut palms found dozing against noontime hangovers of the dredgers..,And the Kites flew holding the wings ahead, afar from the dozing banks……!And the yards close to the banks breathed in silence !And made the shades more dark and deep in dense deep greens…..!
The shore took rest in the wind that resorted in the shades of the trees in the peace of the sea that waves away the Day…! The vessels in the sea went towards the shore away through the branches waving in the quiet wind that was gentle on the coast that kindle the evening spirit of the land….,
In the bench beneath the shades of the small leaves, a pair took a rest beneath an umbrella in Pink…!
Among the shades of Blue , there were blushing Green shades reflecting the face of a Man who was among the flourishing fields of romance, recreation , redeeming passions of life and rejuvenating spirits of earthly life…!( The Performance depicted the story of man undergoing the friction and fascinations of manly realms of the real and the fictitious aspects of human passions posed against turbulance of Time)…The green shades are from the classical style depiction of manhood in its dance drama version of KATHAKALI which was performed in the late hours of the dry Nights of the summertime) !!!!
The facial make of the divine circle of fire in the classical performing art form of KATHAKALI in Kerala in India is highly fascinating one. This is an incarnation of the weapon of Lord Mahavishnu in the mythology of India. This represents the true spirits of vision and amazing power of virtue that overpower the lust and the vice. This is the version of the facial make of the character in a play of the legend in praise of the Lord.(What is seen in the image here is the painting I did in oil on canvas last year, depicting the face of the character as depicted in the format of the classical performance on the stage of KATHAKALI).
